Redkite

Redkite is an Australian charity that supports children, young people and their families through cancer by providing emotional support, financial assistance and educational services.

The organisation was founded in 1983 and was, until 1 August 2005, known as The Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children in Australia.

Children from all major cities, regional and remote locations across Australia are supported by Redkite services coordinated from offices in Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria. With the continuing support of the community, Redkite aims to further expand services in order to offer equality of care and support to all Australian children coping with childhood cancer.

Children and young people with cancer bring many personal strengths, abilities and resources to the cancer journey, as do their families and support networks. But sometimes extra support is needed.

Whether you’re a young person who is recently diagnosed, undergoing treatment or returning home, a family member or support person, Redkite services are available for you. Redkite also supports the special needs of bereaved families.

By delivering specialised childhood cancer counselling and support, Redkite aims to alleviate the challenges young people and their families experience throughout the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and beyond.

The Heart Foundation

The Heart Foundation is dedicated to reducing the dreadful effects of the number of people living with, or dying from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease.

Since they were established in Australia in 1959, they have funded world-class cardiovascular research, supported health professionals in their practice, developed health promotion activities, informed and educated the public, and assisted people with cardiovascular disease. Today, the life expectancy of Australians is about ten years longer for men and nine years longer for women.

With your support, the Heart Foundation aims to continue their ground-breaking work into the future, providing Australians with the very best heart health information and funds for cutting edge research.

Starlight Children’s Foundation

Since being formed as an Australian children’s charity in 1988, Starlight has brightened the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, throughout Australia.

Starlight programs are delivered both in and out of hospital, providing positive distraction to children in their time of need.

Living with illness or injury can cause enormous strain in the lives of children and their families. The pain, loneliness and isolation that sick children feel dominates their lives, and they often miss out on normal experiences that healthy children take for granted.

Physical recovery is only part of the solution. Starlight delivers innovative programs designed to make children happy and lift their spirits when they need it most. Starlight brings fun and laughter to children no matter what their illness or where they live.

Each year there are over 600,000 child admissions made to hospitals across Australia. Sadly, Starlight reaches only ‘1 in 3’ of these children. Starlight’s ultimate goal is to reach each and every child.

The Starlight Children's Foundation is part of the Australian Children's Charities Forum, a group of national children's charities dedicated to directly helping seriously ill, disabled or disadvantaged children.
