Fremantle utility Jayden Pitt’s immediate playing career has been put on hold while he awaits further investigation of a recently diagnosed heart irregularity.

General manager of football operations Chris Bond said today that the 20-year-old would return to Melbourne with his family to seek further opinions on the initial diagnosis.

“The club will be working closely with Jayden, his family and his management to determine the best course of action for his future,” Bond said.

“With that in mind, the club advises that Jayden’s family have requested that the media respect his and their privacy during this period by not seeking them out for media interviews.

“In the meantime, training and playing football for Jayden have been put on hold while further opinions are sought.

“The club will provide further updates when pertinent information comes to hand.”

The former Geelong Falcon was Fremantle’s first selection (pick 20) in the 2010 AFL Draft.

He made his debut in round 1 2011 against Brisbane at the Gabba, kicking Freo’s first goal of the match in a two-point win.

Pitt made eight appearances in his first season, but only managed two in 2012, although the club maintained his development was on track.
