Highlight – Suban wasted no time letting the football world know he was a legitimate best-22 player with a three-goal, 19-possession effort against West Coast in the round 1 Carlton Mid Derby.

Summary – After notching 16, 10 and 14 games in each of the past three seasons, Suban would have been pleased to play 22 games in 2013. He provided grunt in midfield and defence in what was his best year as an AFL player to date.

Finals

Qualifying Final – 10 disposals
Preliminary Final – 14 disposals, 2 goals
Grand Final – 12 disposals

Summary – Suban’s performance in the finals series was not as prominent as his home and away form. Two goals in the preliminary final against Sydney was pleasing, but he would have liked to have gotten his hands on the football more in September.

Outlook: Suban showed significant improvement in 2013, but to stay in a strong Fremantle 22 he will need to grow further next year. He will hope to hit the scoreboard regularly again, following his 16 majors in 2013. That was heartening considering he had only kicked a total of eight goals in the previous three seasons.
