David Mundy escaped Ross Lyon's wrath in the immediate aftermath of Saturday's win over West Coast but he says that kind of feedback isn't unusual at Fremantle.

Lyon walked amongst his players prior to the Carlton Draught Derby post-match presentations, singling out several mistakes made during West Coast's comeback from 24 points down at three-quarter time to hit the front halfway through the final term.

Freo managed to kick away again and win by seven points but Lyon was clearly unimpressed.

Mundy said it was not unusual for Lyon to deliver such a message in that manner.

"That kind of immediate feedback isn't something that we shy away from or isn't something that's abnormal to this club," Mundy said.

"It's something that we embrace. We understand they're not personal attacks, they're just helping to improve the individual and the behaviour to fall in line with the team morals."

The Freo Dockers face Melbourne on Saturday night in Darwin, searching for a seventh straight win to maintain their place in the top four.

The club appears set to welcome back veteran defender Luke McPharlin from his medial ligament strain. He trained strongly on Tuesday morning but Mundy said McPharlin would need to get through the rest of the week before he could be declared a definite starter.

"I think he's got to get through training and jump all these hurdles and do all these fitness tests," Mundy said.

"But it's good that he's back up with the boys and back into the footy drills. It's really good to have him back."
