Sports Education and Development Australia (SEDA) students involved in the Fremantle Dockers’ program have finished the school year on a high, raising much-needed funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The year 11 and 12 program allows students to transition from school to employment or further study.

The student-driven initiative saw $1852 raised through a variety of activities including an auction of items sourced by students and their families and also a challenge to run up and down Jacob’s Ladder as many times as possible in a 45-minute period.

Krysta raised almost $300 on her own through family, friends and work colleagues and completed the gruelling 242-step climb nine times.

She said the opportunity was “a great chance to give something to the Fremantle Dockers, who have supported us all year, and to raise funds for a great cause like the Starlight Children’s Foundation.”

Fremantle Dockers Community Goals manager Wade Spilcker was impressed with the students and their values.

“It is an amazing effort from 16 and 17-year-old students to raise this money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation,” he said.

“The SEDA program the gives students a great sense of community and it is fantastic to see these students going above and beyond expectations to support others.”
