Anthony Morabito will consult a knee specialist in the next 24 hours to determine whether he requires more surgery due to ongoing soreness in his troublesome left knee.

Fremantle football operations manager Chris Bond confirmed the luckless midfielder requires a medical assessment on his left knee that has been reconstructed three times between 2011 and 2013.

"Anthony has had minor knee soreness and he will be assessed in the next 24 hours to determine what the best course of action will be," Bond said.

Morabito has not been seen on the training track with the main squad since Christmas as he has remained in the rehab group.

The 23-year-old was the feel good story of 2014. He returned to Dockers side in round 16 against Melbourne last year after three knee reconstructions had kept him out of AFL football since his eye-catching debut season in 2010.

He played three consecutive matches, two as the substitute, before losing his place following Fremantle's round 18 loss to St Kilda.

Morabito then hurt his knee again at training in early September that effectively ended his season.

Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich said Morabito is understandably frustrated but he has endured far worse.

"I've seen him frustrated for a number of years," Pavlich said.

"Anyone that's had the history that he's had with his knees and other areas of his body, but particularly his knees obviously, understandably he's had frustrations.

"It's just been a stop start career unfortunately for him and that's where the strong group behind him need to get along and support him. And that's certainly been the case for him again throughout this pre-season whilst he's been in the rehab group."

The midfielder signed a one-year deal with the Dockers for 2015.
