With the possibility of Ryan Crowley missing games this season, captain Matthew Pavlich suggested on Thursday that Matt de Boer or Clancee Pearce could fill in the tagging role in 2015.

Another chance to trial the new taggers will be in Sunday’s NAB Challenge match against West Coast.

At his media conference on Friday, Lyon threw another name into the mix but was pretty impressed with Pearce’s shutdown job against Sydney last Sunday.

“He’ll (Pavlich) make a good coach one day and Paul Hasleby suggested Micky Barlow,” Lyon said.

“We played a couple of games last year where Ryan didn’t tag anyone specifically and we just went with three midfielders.

“We trialled Clancee Pearce on the weekend, I think Nick Suban could work off as well…it’s a work in progress at the minute.

“But Clancee had a bit of a crack last weekend on Kieren Jack and did a pretty good job…will he get one this week?

“We’re going to have match committee and work our way through it.”

Bounce down against West Coast at Domain Stadium is 4.10pm WST.
