Freo is preparing for a talented North Melbourne forward line that has been boosted by the inclusion of Jarrad Waite this season.

Fremantle development coach Marc Webb told SportFM on Thursday that the Kangaroos have quality talls at both ends of the ground but particularly forward.

“Waite gives them extra fire power,” he said.

“They’ve got plenty of fire power at both ends.”

Talking Points ahead of Fremantle v North Melbourne

Webb said Fremantle would need to defend as a group to reduce the influence of the likes of Drew Petrie, Waite and ruckman Todd Goldstein, who often pushes forward.

“We need to make sure we cut off the supply and have the ability to help out the defence,” he said.

Webb said he was impressed with young defender Alex Pearce’s first two games of AFL.

Lyon thrilled with Pearce

However, Pearce may make way for veteran Luke McPharlin, who is expected to play after missing two games due to calf soreness.

“He’s been very solid,” he said.

“From the day he stepped into the club he’s been super diligent at working hard and earning his place in the team.

“It’s fantastic he’s had his opportunity and he’s been able to show his form.

“There’s plenty to work on, he knows that, but it’s been good for him to get a taste.”

Fremantle play North Melbourne at Domain Stadium on Saturday 23 May. Bounce down is at 5.40pm.
