Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon says his side is not satisfied and is still hungry to play better football despite winning eight straight games to start the year.

Lyon told 6PR Sports Today on Monday he was pleased with the positive start to the year but there was room to improve.

“We are a long way from being satisfied,” he said.

“We’re not playing satisfied football…we’re a hungry playing and coaching group.”

Lyon said the good start to the year was thanks to a tough off-season, with an altered regime including players training on Saturdays.

Ross Lyon switches focus to Adelaide

“It’s a really positive start and reward for our work over the summer and the player’s attitude,” he said.

“We’re a hard working team, we’re blue collar.

“If we keep our work ethic high and work as a complimentary team, we’ll be okay.

“If we step away from our principles, we come back to the field pretty quickly.”

Lyon said the tight competition this year meant any lapses in training or during games would catch teams out.

“There are no give-me (games),” he said.

“We don’t back off, we don’t let up.”

Fremantle play Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday 30 May. Bounce down is at 7.10pm local time.
