It has been a busy five days for the 16 participants in the 2015 Live the Dream program, presented by Decmil, but it was an experience they will never forget.

A farewell function for the group was held at Fremantle Football Club on Tuesday afternoon with families of the participants attending.

The program offers a rare opportunity for young people to develop skills and behaviours, which can deliver long-term benefits to the individual and their community.

Fremantle players Michael Walters, Tommy Sheridan, Hayden Crozier, Nick Suban, Chris Mayne, Michael Johnson, Danyle Pearce and Zac Clarke were mentors to the group during the program.

Walters said the program would have plenty of positive long-term benefits for the young people.

“It’s been a great very good achievement for these young people to take part in this program,” he said.

“I’ve been part of the program for two years and I hope it continues.”

Participant Kelsey Giles from Thornlie said the group had learned a lot of skills and behaviours during the program that they would use for the rest of their lives.

“Thanks to Decmil and Fremantle Dockers for running this program,” she said.

“We are so lucky to get this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
