If ever a player has been moulded by Ross Lyon’s philosophies it is Lachie Neale.

Neale has spent his entire playing career under Lyon’s gaze.

Both arrived at the club at the end of 2011 and since then Neale has grown along with the team that Lyon has crafted.

Neale told Channel 9’s Sunday Footy Show that he has taken all of Lyon’s frank advice on board.

Talking Points from Richmond

“I’ve worked with him for four years and he’s been fantastic for me,” he said.

“His first year was my first year.

“We’ve had some really honest discussions as to where I need to improve and what I need to do to become a better player.”

Neale arrived at Fremantle at pick 58 in the 2011 draft before debuting in Round 4, 2012.

This year he has become a critical cog in Fremantle’s midfield and has even come into All Australian discussions.

Ross Lyon post-match Q & A

He is averaging 26.4 disposals per game and recorded a season high of 42 touches against West Coast in Round 3.

Neale said Lyon’s influence on the club was unparalleled.

“Every player that comes to Fremantle has to buy in to what we’re about,” he said.

“We’ve built a really strong culture since Ross has come to the club at the end of 2011.”
