Ahead of a Preliminary Final and his 150th game this Friday, Freo forward Chris Mayne still had time to fit in a visit to Fremantle Primary School in a quest to find the biggest Freo fan on Wednesday afternoon.

Squeezing the school visit in between a team meeting and a scheduled massage Mayne wasn’t going to let anything stop him from getting to meet the year three students.

The school, a partner school of the Fremantle Dockers made a special effort to have their students dressed in purple for Mayne’s visit.

Mayne had the tough job of having to choose the winning poster but eventually selected eight-year-old Emma Douglas, who said she had been a Freo Docker since birth.

“It’s great to get here and see the students,” Mayne said.

“In a week like this, which has been really intense, it’s a nice distraction.”

Mayne is one of three finalists for the 2015 Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.

The Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award will be presented at the 2015 Brownlow Medal Ceremony and is named in honour of former Melbourne Football Club President and player Jim Stynes who passed away in 2012.

Mayne is a Starlight Children’s Foundation Ambassador and regularly gives up his time to help community groups and charity organisations.

He is also a mentor with Ladder, a youth homelessness charity, and has worked with Live the Dream and Ronald McDonald House.

Here's five more reasons Chris Mayne is an all round 'good guy':

1. Chris Mayne and his 'bff' Tayten Dowson

Over the years Chris has had the opportunity to meet some pretty special Starlight kids, but there has been one in particular who he has a special connection with.

When Chris found out Tayten Dowson had been admitted to hospital in Perth, he had just arrived back in Perth from Bali.

The all around guy good headed straight from the airport to Princess Margaret Hospital to check on his little buddy.

2. His four-legged friends
A proud owner of a playful chocolate labrador, Milo, Chris is a huge animal lover and over the past two years has been involved in the Shenton Park Dog Refuge 'In The Dog House' fundraising event. This involves Chris spending four hours in a dog kennel with a rescued canine, raising much needed awareness and funds for the shelter.

3. Supporting the Kids Appeal

As well as being an ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation, Chris is always willing to help out a good cause.
Earlier this year Chris donated his time to the Kids Appeal to help raise funds for Telethon.

4. That time he wore a blue wig....
Along with the other Starlight Children's Foundation ambassadors, Chris visits the Starlight Express Room at Princess Maragaret Hospital regularly.

You can always count on Chris to be the first one to get stuck into the fancy dress box, and put on a crazy wig and some whacky clothes. He's the first to get the kids up dancing and singing. Making fun of himself to get a smile or a laugh from the kids is something Chris loves doing.

5. He's the ultimate family man

If there's one thing that's for certain is that Chris is the ultimate family man. He regularly takes his lovely mum to club events and appearances and he's always got time to have a hit of golf with his dad.

Just one look on his Instagram account also shows he's totally smitten by his beautiful little cousin, Holly.
