Fremantle is eyeing off top end talent and tall timber during this year’s trade and draft period, according to general manager of player management Brad Lloyd.

The club declared its interest in Giant Cam McCarthy and Gold Coast Sun Harley Bennell on the first day of the NAB AFL Trade Period on Monday.

It is no secret the club wants to boost its forward firepower and it will search for that during the next two months.

Lloyd is one of the people considered an architect of Fremantle’s current playing list that pushed the club into the finals again this year.

McCarthy and Bennell on radar

“First and foremost we want to add talent to the playing list,” Lloyd said.

“Top end talent is our primary focus.

“We want to boost our tall stocks where we can via trade or the draft.”

Lloyd said the next two months was a crucial time on developing the playing list.

“It’s an important time but we work throughout the whole year for the next two week period and the draft,” he said.

“It’s an important part of building the playing list.

“Your decisions are important on who you do and don’t bring in.”
