The Fremantle Dockers have a challenging task on their hands when they take on an impressive GWS side at Domain Stadium this Saturday night.
Boasting a list overflowing with high-end talent, the Giants are full of confidence after smashing three-time reigning premiers Hawthorn to the tune of 75-points at Spotless Stadium last Saturday.
GWS are ranked third for points scored, averaging 111-points per match, and fifth for points against, averaging 79.
Freo will be looking to improve on its average 46 inside 50s per match, with the club sitting below the league average of 53.
Freo have two players – Michael Walters and Stephen Hill – in the top five for inside 50s with 5.8 per match.
GWS rank third in the comp with 58 inside 50s per match and have Toby Greene – 6.3 – and Steve Johnson – 5.3 – inside the top 10.
Fremantle will be aiming to lift their clearance numbers against the top ranked Giants, with Freo averaging 33 clearances per match while GWS average 40.
The Giants have 11th ranked Dylan Shiel – averaging 6.2 clearances – and Stephen Coniglio – averaging 5.4 – but will be without veteran midfielder Ryan Griffen who averages six per match.
Freo have their own clearance exponents in Lachie Neale and Stephen Hill who are ranked in the league’s top 25 stoppage clearance winners, with 3.5 and three respectively.
Freo’s Michael Walters has been a big mover in the league’s Schick Hydro player ratings, climbing from 123 at the end of 2015 to 63 heading in to round seven.
The 25-year-old has rediscovered the form that saw him selected in the initial 40-man All Australian squad back in 2013, and is leading Freo in goal kicking (13), score involvements (7.5 per match), and marks inside 50 (two per match).
