Fremantle’s Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe is doing everything in his power to put his injury ravaged 2016 behind him as he prepares for a new season.

Fyfe is flying to the United States to train at the STAPLES Centre, home of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team and Los Angeles Kings ice hockey franchise.

“It’s about training myself up at an international venue and exposing myself to other world-class athletes to see if I can get an edge,” Fyfe told Seven News.

“I’ll have a couple of short training camps between now and then, both in Australia and internationally to get myself up to speed and really look forward to having a couple of solid months.”

Contract extension for Langdon

Fyfe will also spend some time at the University of California, Los Angeles in a coordinated plan to get ready for the 2017 pre-season in mid-November.

The 25-year-old had surgery in early August to remove a metal plate from his left leg and has made a return to training at the club having sat on the sidelines since April.

But before he goes to the US, Fyfe will attend the Brownlow Medal on Monday 26 September to hand over the prized award.

“Both the MVP and Brownlow, winning those awards was quite humbling and both awards I’d love to have a crack at going at again,” he said.

“It’s going to be tough to hand it over to the next worthy winner but it’s been fantastic.”
