The first day of summer hit hard for Fremantle players in Broome on Thursday for the club's Australia Post AFL Community Camp, but that didn't stop the group from keeping their pre-season rolling.

The group, including Ed Langdon, Lachie Weller, Connor Blakely, Tommy Sheridan, Garrick Ibbotson, Nick Suban, Matt Taberner, Jon Griffin and Hayden Crozier arrived bright and early for a running
session at Peter Haynes Oval despite forecast high temperatures.

"We woke up pretty early this morning to try and beat the heat and we went down to the local oval and had a bit of a running session, which was very interesting," Langdon said.

"One of the boys checked this morning, and it was about 36-37 (degrees) at about 7.30 in the morning, so it was very hot but we’ve got a lot of water down and managed to get through unscathed...it was a good session.

"Everyone was pretty knackered...at the end it was about 39 (degrees). The boys rallied well and it was good to get through."

The group returned to Perth on Thursday afternoon with their pre-season training continuing tomorrow at Fremantle Oval and, according to Langdon, better for the experience.

"I know I speak on behalf of all the boys when I say we love getting up here," Langdon said.

"Most of the boys haven't actually been to Broome before so it’s something new for us.

"Apart from the weather, which has been very hot, it's been great. We went out to Derby yesterday, a few hours drive. It was really good to get to the remote communities, they love having us up here and we love being here, so it’s been really good."
