Forward Matt Taberner has been charged by the AFL’s match review panel for striking Essendon’s Michael Hurley during the first quarter of Sunday’s clash at Domain Stadium.

Based on video evidence and a medical report from Essendon, the incident was classified as careless conduct with low impact, which carries a $1500 sanction.

The fine can be reduced to $1000 with an early plea.
