First year players Brennan Cox and Luke Ryan have been omitted from Saturday’s clash with Hawthorn for not meeting team standards.

The duo did not adhere to the players’ alcohol policy leading into a six day break by going out and consuming alcohol on Sunday night after playing earlier that day against West Coast.

General manager of football operations Chris Bond said Cox and Ryan would both learn from their mistake.

“Brennan and Luke are good, young men who are very much a part of the long-term future of the club,” Bond said.

“The players have set and agreed to standards, which all of our players are required to adhere to. However, on this occasion that was not the case.

“As a result, Brennan and Luke were not selected in the team to play Hawthorn on Saturday.”
