Footy will return to Fremantle Oval when Freo’s AFL Women's team take on Melbourne this Sunday afternoon.

Speaking from Freo Oval on Friday morning, Michelle Cowan said her team were looking forward to returning to their former ‘home ground’ to take on the Demons.

“We are in the heart of Fremantle here and we love playing footy here,” Cowan said.

“We are bringing football back and I’m sure our supporters will get around Sunday’s game and fill the oval with purple.”

Coming off a 13-point win against Collingwood in front of more than 41,000 Freo fans at Optus Stadium last Saturday, Cowan said her team’s focus for the week has been preparing for the Demons.

“Melbourne are a quality outfit led really well and have a number of key players on their list,” Cowan said.

“They are a quality side and we are looking forward to hosting them here.”

Melbourne star Daisy Pearce will be one player Freo will look at shutting down for the game, but Cowan said there were no plans to look at a tagging role.

“We’ll continue to focus on our own game and play our brand of football,” Cowan said.

“We saw a bit of that against Collingwood and we are looking to bring that same intensity and effort on Sunday.

Fremantle will take on Melbourne at Fremantle Oval on Sunday 18 February, bounce down is 3.35pm. Gates open at 2pm and entry is free.
