Andrew Brayshaw says he’s proud to have placed a high importance on building relationships with his teammates during his first year at Fremantle.

Even if these relationships have come at the detriment of his favourite Fremantle hat.

Anyone with a keen eye at training may have noticed that Brayshaw has been sporting a signed hat this pre-season.

“Last year my hat was getting pretty dirty so I gave it a wash and I was going on about how nice it looked,” Brayshaw said.

“Someone scribbled their name on it and from there everyone’s been signing it since.

“I think ‘Cez’ (Adam Cerra) has signed it and Hugh Dixon and Matt Taberner as well.

“Maybe they just wanted to put up the value! If Cez keeps doing what he’s doing, it should be worth a fair bit one day.”

Brayshaw will officially become a second-year player following this week’s NAB AFL National Draft.

He gave some guiding words to the players Fremantle will take on Thursday and Friday.

“It’s going to be the best time of their lives,” Brayshaw said.

“I would say to come out here with a really open mind, try to get to know as many of the guys as you can.

“Just soak it all in. The first month before the Christmas break goes really quickly. Just enjoy it, have fun and work really hard.”

Brayshaw said he’s enjoyed his second pre-season at the club.

“When you start, you don’t really know heaps of guys so you can be pretty quiet,” Brayshaw said.

“(My second pre-season) has been really good, I feel much fitter and stronger and a lot more confident around the club than last year coming in.”
