Fremantle are scoring and conceding more goals than the league average after two rounds of the NAB AFL Women’s season and defender Alex Williams wouldn’t have it any other way.

After two games, Fremantle is averaging 63 points per game, almost double the league average of 34.

The team also kicked an AFLW club record 10.7 (67) against Brisbane, a notoriously strong defensive side.

At the other ground, the opposition is also finding their way to goal through some free-flowing footy in Freo’s opening games.

Despite boasting the league’s third-best percentage, Fremantle have conceded the second most points, averaging 47.5 per game.

Williams said she’s pleased to see Fremantle lead the way with scoring this season.

“It’s been great for the competition and great for us to know that we’ve got multiple players who can kick goals,” Williams said.

“I think nearly all of our forward line got a goal on the weekend and multiple ones as well, so it’s really exciting for the competition and for us as a team as well.”

Williams said she’s enjoying the challenge of talking on Freo’s firing forward line at training, which includes Ebony Antonio, Kellie Gibson, Sabreena Duffy and Gabby O’Sullivan.

“It’s obviously hard (for the defenders) at training but it’s nice for us to train against a really good forward line,” Williams said.

“We can see how we go against them and then put ourselves up against an opposition team as well.”
