Season 2010 will see Fremantle’s Community Goals program welcome Freo House Footy (formerly AFL Rec Footy) to the fold.
Freo House Footy will provide an opportunity for all secondary school students to enjoy participating in a modified version of Australian rules football which has strong parallels with the traditional game.
Designed so everyone can participate, Freo House Footy is non-contact and has a major emphasis on fun!
Schools can conduct the program as part of the AFL SEPEP program and it can be successfully incorporated into the schools compulsory Physical Education schedule.
Competitions can be undertaken using any of the following variations:
• Students from years 8-12 to form teams (i.e. House Teams)
• Teams compete for their House with the points going to the House Shield.
• The competition can run for a minimum of 6 games over approximately 6 weeks
• Competition rules can be adapted by the students or they may use the AFL Rec Footy rules
All schools receive a FREE Freo House Footy Kit (valued at $350) with the first 50 schools who register invited to participate in an intra-school competition. The kit includes:
• Set of Freo House Footy bibs
• 5 x synthetic footballs
• Goal and point posts
• AFL Rec Footy CD-ROM
PLEASE NOTE: All schools that register for Freo House Footy prior to the end of Term 1 will go into a draw to play an exhibition game prior to the Fremantle v Sydney game on Saturday 14 August at Subiaco Oval. For further information contact Darren Davis: 9381 5599 or ddavis@wafc.com.au
