SUMMARY
It’s been a long road back for Pearce since breaking his leg in round nine, 2016 against Richmond. The defender hit a crucial milestone in December when he trained with the main group for the first time and is targeting a return to AFL football in early 2018.

WHAT THE COACH SAYS (Michael Prior)
Alex has been managed a little bit over the summer due to his leg injury. However when he is on the training track, he’s fantastic. His leadership, voice, direction and his body work have been outstanding. We look forward to gaining a new player in 2018.

Season by Season

Missed the entire 2017 season with a broken leg but progressed with his recovery. The promising key back is expected to make his return to football in 2018.

Played eight games until a fractured tibia in round 9 ended what was building into another promising season for the emerging key defender.

Pearce was a standout among the club’s young brigade in 2015. Debuted in round 6 against Essendon and won the club’s Beacon Award for best young player. Played both forward and back.

The first-year key defender showed enough to suggest he can win a spot in Freo’s backline in the
future. Played the season in the WAFL but was named as an AFL emergency on two occasions.
