SUMMARY
Took on a difficult midfield role and performed admirably but shone even brighter after a switch to half-back. A dislocated shoulder put an unfortunate end to an impressive season in 2017, however Blakely has since recovered from surgery and has continued the hard work in the pre-season.

WHAT THE COACH SAYS (Anthony Rock)
Connor has played a mixture of midfield and back. He is now into his fourth year as an AFL player and he’s certainly growing and maturing. We look forward to seeing him have a good year playing both in the midfield and back.

The 21-year-old took his game to another level in 2017, holding his own in Fremantle’s midfield before starring in his move to half-back. Blakely polled Brownlow votes in five games before his season was cut short after dislocating his shoulder against GWS in round 19.

Played the bulk of the second half of the season for Freo, earning a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in round 11. Won the prestigious Simpson Medal as the best on ground with 38 disposals in Peel’s Premiership win.

The highly regarded midfielder was among Peel Thunder's best in 2015. Debuted in round 23 against Port Adelaide.
