SUMMARY
Weller had a full season in 2016 and relished a stint at half-back late in the year. He earned a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in Fremantle’s round 12 victory over Brisbane in 2016.

WHAT THE COACH SAYS (Michael Prior)
Lachie came back really fit and has improved his running and strength which is pleasing. He’s training as a defender and really wants to learn
as much as he can about defence. He’s put himself in a good position for a solid year.

An emerging talent who featured in every game as injuries plagued Freo’s mid eld. The 20-year-old showed pace and agility to earn a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in round 12, and win Freo’s Beacon Award as the best first or second year player in 2016.

Weller's first AFL season showed why he was a high draft pick. He played three games in 2015 and did not look out of depth at the elite level.
