SUMMARY
Missed the 2017 season due to a knee injury in a WAFL pre-season game. The forward is being eased back into main training with the aim to return through the WAFL in 2018.

WHAT THE COACH SAYS (David Hale)
Michael has got through pre-season. He had previously missed a number of pre-seasons due to post-season surgery. He is looking to consolidate with some much-needed game time over the pre-season period. The most important thing is that he has stayed injury free and is giving himself every chance to start to develop his forward and ruck skills.

Season by Season

Season by Season

After making his return from injury in 2016, Apeness missed the entire 2017 season after injuring the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while playing for Peel reserves in May.

Came into the side late after an injury plagued season, kicking three goals in the last four rounds. A part of Peel’s premiership side, kicking a goal in all four of the Thunder’s finals.

A serious knee injury prevented Apeness from playing many games in 2015. Would be looking forward to a big year in 2016.

The club’s top pick from the 2013 AFL National Draft debuted in round 16 and showed plenty of promise at WAFL level. Looks set to become a bigger factor in 2015.
