At his best, Sandilands is as dominant as any player in the competition. Unfortunately, the ruck champ spent considerable time on the sidelines in 2011 because of a toe injury and could only manage to make 13 appearances. He still led the club for total hitouts (432), and placed top four in contested possessions (147), contested marks (36), clearances (62), hard ball gets (64) and Dream Team average (95). While missing a player of his stature hurt the team’s chances of winning, Sandilands’ absence gave Jon Griffin and Zac Clarke the opportunity to shine, which means the three-time All-Australian will go into 2012 with an excellent back-up brigade.
