Fremantle defender Marcus Drum is to be traded to Geelong.
General manager of football operations Chris Bond said today that the club had agreed to terms that would see Drum move to Geelong for the Cats’ third round selection (pick 49).
As a result of the trade, Fremantle will have five selections under 50 in next month’s National Draft, including picks 4, 20, 36, 48 and 49.
The five selections comprise a total of three third round selections, including two extra third round picks at 48 and 49.
“Having five selections under 50 in the National Draft puts the club in a sound position to continue our endeavours to enhance our playing list with young talent,” Bond said.
“It is firmly in line with the club’s list management model to build our playing list via the National Draft.”
In last year’s National Draft, Fremantle had six picks at 56 and under, securing Stephen Hill (3), Hayden Ballantyne (21), Nick Suban (24), Zac Clarke (37), Michael Walters (53), Ben Bucovaz (56).
