Fremantle will take on a near full-strength Geelong team in Saturday’s NAB Challenge match at Fremantle Oval, with only three Cats missing from the 2009 Grand Final winning side.

Brownlow Medallist Gary Ablett has been selected, while the only players missing are Joel Corey and Max Rooke through injury, and retired premiership skipper Tom Harley.

Fremantle has added draftees Justin Bollenhagen and Jesse Crichton for what could be their first appearances for the club.

If both Bollenhagen and Crichton play, it would mean Fremantle has unveiled all nine new recruits - eight rookies and former-Bomber Adam McPhee - during the pre-season.

Key players Aaron Sandilands, Des Headland, Luke McPharlin and Chris Mayne have also been named.

Headland returns after missing the past two weeks with a slight hamstring strain, while McPharlin and Sandilands were rested for last week’s NAB Cup semi-final loss to the Saints.

The addition of Mayne, who kicked five goals in the win over the Kangaroos two weeks ago, will boost Fremantle’s forward line.

Jay van Berlo also comes back into the initial squad of 29 following an ankle injury.

New draftees Nathan Fyfe, Dylan Roberton and Alex Silvagni come out of last week’s squad along with Ben Bucovaz and Matthew de Boer.

The NAB Challenge match against the Cats has been moved to Fremantle Oval after the AFL ruled Subiaco Oval would not be ready in time following AC/DC concerts on Saturday and Monday.

Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich said the local atmosphere at the historic West Australian ground would be enjoyable.

“There’s a bit of that suburban atmosphere, that carnival atmosphere, which the old people and the people that love traditional football will absolutely enjoy,” he said.

“It’s great to be able to play here at our home deck against a great side in Geelong.

We love playing here.”
