Fremantle have informed Reece Conca that he will not be offered a contract beyond the 2021 season.

The defender played nine games in 2021, as well as an additional game as an unused medical sub, but has not appeared since playing his milestone 150th AFL game against Gold Coast in round 13.

In total, Conca played 46 games for Fremantle since his arrival as a free agent from Richmond ahead of the 2019 season and was voted into the leadership group for all of his three years at the Club.

Executive general manager of football Peter Bell praised the 29-year-old for his leadership and team-first attitude.

“We would like to thank Reece for his dedication to the Club and the playing group throughout his three seasons at Fremantle,” Bell said.

“The players made it clear how highly they valued his leadership and selfless attitude, voting him into the leadership group after completing just one pre-season ahead of his first season at Fremantle.

“Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to not renew Reece’s contract as we prioritise the development of our young defenders, but we cannot understate the importance of his guidance to this group since his arrival.”
