Among the many fans at Simonds Stadium who witnessed Fremantle’s win over Geelong was a local boy whose allegiances were with the team in purple.

Following the game a buoyant Jayden Pitt, who’s career is currently on hold because of a heart condition, was embraced by his triumphant teammates.

Zac Clarke who played in the win, described the feeling of being able to include Pitt in the on-ground celebrations after the game as a ‘happy moment.’

“I had no idea he was coming down.

“When the final siren went and he came out of the race I was really stoked to see him,” Clarke said.

“I just felt so much joy.”

Pitt has moved back to Melbourne to be with his family while his immediate playing career remains on hold due to a heart irregularity.

“He’s obviously been away from the club for a while so it was just good to catch up with him after a good occasion,” Clarke said.

“He’s been part of this club for three years now, no matter what’s changed he’s still welcome with open arms.”

Clarke said he was hopeful they could celebrate again in two weeks time.

“I haven’t had a chance to ask him if he’ll be over for the preliminary final yet but I’ll send him a few texts during the week and see if I can get him to come over,” he said.
