Scans have confirmed that Fremantle forward Scott Gumbleton has torn his right hamstring and is expected to miss the next 12 weeks.

The 25-year-old was subbed off in the first quarter of Wednesday’s NAB Challenge match against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

He had the scans late on Thursday and the images were sent for review yesterday to a Melbourne specialist, who subsequently confirmed the significance of the injury.

Gumbleton's injury woes continue

General manager of football operations Chris Bond said Gumbleton had enjoyed a trouble-free pre-season and worked extremely hard since joining Fremantle from Essendon in the trade period last October.

“It’s very frustrating for Scott given the preparation he has had. At this stage we expect that he will miss the next 12 weeks,” Bond said.
