Senior Coach Michelle Cowan has credited her side for an improved performance in Fremantle’s one-point loss to Collingwood on Saturday at Rushton Park in Mandurah.

Fremantle has a draw from five games in the NAB AFL Women’s competition, but Cowan is seeing positive signs for the remaining two rounds.

“I think they’re devastated, but we know the journey that we’re on,” Cowan said.

“We aren’t about wins and losses at this stage, we’re about building and getting better week to week.

“I’m excited about getting on the track on Monday and showing them some of the vision and preparing really well for Friday’s challenge against Carlton.

“I thought the girls prepared really well to face Collingwood, and we’ll go again."

In Carlton, Fremantle face a big test against a side chasing a top two spot and a place in the Grand Final, but Cowan feels her side has just as much on the line.

“We’ve had exceptional effort for four months,” Cowan said.

“I would love them to get the reward and the opportunity to sing the song, and what better place than the home of WA football at Domain Stadium.”
