David Mundy backed his goal kicking routine to slot through the match-winning goal after the siren to beat Richmond by two points.

Mundy, the best kick in the club according to coach Ross Lyon, shook off some pre-game jitters to slot the goal from 30 metres out.

“Before the game I had about six shots from that exact spot and shanked all of them,” the 259 gamer told FOX Footy post-match.

“I just went back to my routine and it came off nice off the boot.

“It felt really, really good.”

The Fremantle midfielder showed his confidence with the kick after raising his hand to the Freo faithful in the stands as soon as it left his foot.

Lyon, who was already on his way down to the rooms after Brandon Ellis kicked Richmond’s fifth fourth quarter goal with 21 seconds left on the clock, was pleased to see the ball in Mundy’s hands as the final siren went.

“I heard a bit of a roar and I got to the bottom of the lift and looked at the TV,” Lyon said.

“The siren had gone and David Mundy was taking deep breaths and I thought this is alright.

“I saw he was 30 metres out on a slight angle and he’s the best kick in the club.

“I was hopeful.”
