Fremantle forward Kirby Bentley will undergo surgery on Monday after injuring the meniscus in her right knee.

The injury was sustained while playing for the Allies during the AFLW State of Origin match against Victoria on Saturday 2 September at Etihad Stadium.

Bentley underwent ACL surgery on the same knee in 2016 and elected for a hybrid graft, which saw her play every game in the inaugural 2017 AFLW season.

The Fremantle leader is likely to return to training after Christmas and remains on track to be ready for round one of the 2018 AFLW season.
