Fremantle will be ready should Matt de Boer be utilised as a tagger in Saturday’s clash against GWS, according to Fremantle midfielder Ed Langdon.

Langdon said he and his teammates are considering the possibility of de Boer continuing the tagging role he has played in recent weeks, with shutdown roles on the likes of Dustin Martin and Tim Kelly.

Nat Fyfe is one potential target of de Boer’s, with the Fremantle captain set to return from concussion.

“I think if Nat gets through training today, which I’m sure he will, he’ll be good to go. It’s always good to have your captain out there,” Langdon said.

“Matt’s been going really well. I’ve watched a few of their games and from the vision we’ve already seen, he’s played some great roles on some of the game’s best.

“If he does go to Nat or whoever he might end up on, it will be like any other player tagging one of our own. We’ll look to support whoever he tags and if that’s Nathan, they’re good mates so it should be a good duel.”

Langdon said the key was to support their teammate while staying within the rules.

“It probably comes down to two parts. Whoever (de Boer) tags, that player also has to play a role and it’s all about creating two v ones at stoppages and freeing up some of our players,” Langdon said.

“You have to do that obviously within the rules of the game. You have to be disciplined. You do want to get physically into the tagger and make it a tough day for them.

“As we saw last week, Matt switched it up a bit between quarters. I think he went to Kelly for a quarter and then (Patrick) Dangerfield so we’re not too sure what he’ll end up doing."
