Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe has been cleared of any wrongdoing from an incident involving Richmond’s Tom Lynch in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game at Optus Stadium.

Fyfe was expected to come under scrutiny for the bump that made high contact with Lynch, however the AFL’s match review officer Michael Christian said Fyfe had no case to answer.

Christian said it was a similar decision to an incident involving Geelong’s Gary Ablett Jnr from Sunday’s clash with North Melbourne.

“Similarly (to the Ablett incident), the impact in (Fyfe’s) particular case was also not sufficient enough to constitute a reportable offence,” Christian said.

“Tom Lynch was able to get straight up and continue playing and considering the other factors around that particular incident as well, it was also deemed that there was insufficient force to constitute a reportable offence.”

The result means Fyfe is free to play in Saturday night’s game against Essendon at Marvel Stadium.
