Fremantle take on Brisbane on Sunday at Optus Stadium in the Sir Doug Nicholls Round game.

Round 10 in the AFL is the first of two weeks that celebrate Sir Doug Nicholls Round. Freo will wear their purple ‘home’ Indigenous jumper designed by Troy Cook for the game, which is proudly presented by Woodside.

Here are five stats to look out for heading into the game.

18 contested possessions
The return of Lachie Neale to face Freo presents one of the most anticipated midfield matchups in 2019 - and rightfully so.
Nat Fyfe is averaging 18 contested possessions per game in 2019, the highest average in the AFL and just slightly higher than Neale’s average of 17.8 (third in AFL).
Fyfe and Neale are both averaging eight clearances per game, equal second in the AFL, trailing only Carlton’s Patrick Cripps.

29 ground ball gets
Freo defenders Alex Pearce and Luke Ryan lead the AFL’s defenders for ground ball gets, with their 29 each this season. This is three better than any other defender in the AFL.

0.2 goals per inside 50
Senior coach Ross Lyon highlighted this stat in his weekly media conference. Fremantle rank seventh for inside 50s this season with an average of 54 per game, however Fremantle’s 0.206 goals per inside 50 ranks them 14th in the AFL.

110.4 per cent
Brisbane have two more wins on the board than Freo heading into this game, however Freo have a superior percentage of 110.4 compared to the fourth-placed Lions’ 103.5.
It comes down to Freo recording a big win (82 points v North Melbourne) and limiting the damage in their losses. Freo’s losses of 3, 7, 13, 17, 24 and 25 points add up to 65 points, compared to Brisbane’s three losses by 16, 47 and 62 points, adding up to 125 points.

15.9 disposals
Collingwood’s Brodie Grundy sets the standard as a mobile ruckman in the AFL but Brisbane’s Stefan Martin isn’t far behind. Martin ranks second for disposals for ruckmen this season with 143 this season (15.8 per game). Ross Lyon said the matchup will be a good test for Rory Lobb, who also wins plenty of the ball, ranking seventh for disposals by ruckmen with 121 this season (13.4 per game).
