Ryan and Cox a test

Injury Update | 20. 08. 19 Jason Weber has the injury list coming out of Freo's Round 22 clash against the Bombers

Defender Luke Ryan and forward Brennan Cox are both a chance to return for Fremantle’s round 23 clash with Port Adelaide on Sunday, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.

Ryan last played for Fremantle in round 19 against the Western Bulldogs, where he sustained a hamstring injury in the game.

“Luke’s been training really strongly,” Weber said.

“This will be his fourth week after his hamstring injury, so he’s recovered well and we’ll put him into training tomorrow and he’ll look to be available for match committee this week.”

Cox is looking to get up for his first game since round 15 against Carlton.

“Brennan’s had a little bit of a less smooth ride. He’s had a few hiccups with his hip flexor but he’s up and training now and doing really well,” Weber said.

“He’ll be a test for this week so we’ll assess him through the week on how he handles the work and we’ll go from there.”

Weber said that midfielder Stephen Hill (quad) and defender Nathan Wilson (toe) couldn’t get up for the final game of the season.

“Stephen has done some good work and is progressing really strongly, but at this junction, it’s not worth the risk of bringing him in,” Weber said.

“Nathan’s toe continues to be a little bit of a problem. It’s gone a lot slower than we had originally hoped so at this stage he’ll miss this weekend and we’ll get him ready for the off-season break.”
