Travis Colyer is counting down the days for round one, with the midfielder set to make his Fremantle debut against North Melbourne next Sunday at Optus Stadium.

Colyer was given a taste of what game day will be like during Sunday’s training session at Optus Stadium, with the players given a preview of the audio, visual and pyrotechnic show for team’s entrance.

It was Colyer’s first training session and only his second visit to Optus Stadium.

“It's fantastic to get training sessions in at the ground you’re playing half of your games at. It’s something we didn't get at Essendon,” Colyer said.

“To get here and know you get that true home ground advantage, I think is awesome.

“I was injured for the two games we were here last year as an Essendon player, so first impressions are that it’s fantastic.

“I think what they’ve been able to do with team entry out to the ground…I can see that the atmosphere is going to be electric. I absolutely can’t wait until Sunday.”

Colyer said he was pleased with how the session went, with Fremantle fine-tuning their game plan for the coming season.

“It was a good session and a bit warm, but that’s to be expected,” Colyer said.

“It was just to finish off the last few little things. We’ve done a mountain of work over the pre-season and, as much as the results weren’t the greatest in the JLT Series, I think what we’re building here is really special.

“Hopefully, that will come out in a full game on Sunday.”
