Fremantle coaches Lisa Webb and Marc Webb welcomed a new baby boy into the world on Wednesday, with captain Kara Antonio delivering the news to an initially confused and then elated Fremantle playing group.

A name is yet to be announced for the boy, who is the Webbs’ second child behind their eldest Ollie.

Lisa Webb was a star player for Fremantle in 2018 before taking on AFLW coaching duties in 2019 and husband Marc is Fremantle’s development coach and skill acquisition manager.

Lisa remains an AFLW coach for the 2020 season, and was present at training on Tuesday, two days before giving birth.

All going well, she is expected to return to her coaching duties later this season.

With the Fremantle players eagerly expecting the baby news, Antonio played a prank on her teammates, leading them to believe that she and her wife and teammate Ebony were expecting.

“I’m quite a bit nervous, there’s been a few announcement of late of close friends having babies and being pregnant,” Antonio said at Thursday’s training session.

“A lot of you would have noticed that I’ve been on light duties and seeing the doc a few times.

“Ebony and I have an announcement to make…Webby had her baby!”
