Fremantle’s most prestigious night on the calendar has been locked in, with players and staff to come together to award the winner of the 2020 Doig Medal on Thursday 22 October. 

After a season like no other, Freo’s night of nights will unfortunately be much the same.

With the WA government’s Phase 4 Covid-19 restrictions still in place, tickets will not be available to the general public for this year’s event.

However, we hope you will join us by tuning into all the action live from the comfort of your home. 

The 2020 Doig Medal will be streamed live from the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth via fremantlefc.com.au or the official club app from 7pm WST. 

In honouring the club’s contractual commitments, many of Fremantle’s corporate partners will be in attendance at this year’s Doig Medal event.

The Doig family is synonymous with football in Fremantle, with a number of family members representing either East Fremantle or South Fremantle since the beginning of last century.

In 2000, the Fremantle Football Club renamed its club champion award the Doig Medal in honour of the family.

Awards overview
Doig Medal
The player who has excelled in the 2020 season is acknowledged and presented with the club’s most prestigious award – the Doig Medal. 

Beacon Award
The Beacon Award has the same criteria to the AFL’s Rising Star award in that players are eligible to win it in their first or second year of AFL football provided they have played 10 games or less in their debut season.

Players’ Trademark Award
This award is voted on by the players. After every game, each player votes for the player that best reflected the values set by the playing group at the start of the season.

Best Clubman Award
The Best Clubman Award is voted on by the coaching staff, leadership group and various club departments and recognises the player that consistently puts the needs of the team first, willingly accepts responsibility to improve the whole club environment and lives the values of the playing group.
