Walyalup are hopeful star midfielder Kiara Bowers will be available for their round eight clash with St Kilda at Fremantle Oval.
Bowers has missed the last three rounds of the 2023 NAB AFLW season, after aggravating bone bruising in her knee in round four.
AFLW Senior Physiotherapist Brett Fletcher gave an update on Bowers.
“Exciting news with Kiara – she’ll be a test for this week. Pending how she goes with training, she will be available for selection,” Fletcher said.
Midfielder Joanne Cregg was ruled out of the final minutes of Saturday’s game against the Cats due to a knee injury.
Fletcher provided an update on her knee, ruling Cregg out for this week.
“Really fortunate with Jo – she’s escaped any serious structural ligamentous injury. We will let her joints settle down before we look at playing her,” Fletcher said.
“At this stage it will be a round nine or round 10 return (for Cregg).”
Small forward Amy Mulholland also came off alongside her Irish teammate in the last quarter, due to a shoulder concern.
“Amy will be a test for this week – we’re hopeful she’ll get up for this weekend’s clash,” Fletcher said.
Fletcher gave an update on midfielder Nikki Nield, who injured her shoulder during a scrimmage match on Sunday.
“Nikki sustained a shoulder injury on Sunday. We’re just trying to get more information before we look at her prognosis,” Fletcher said.
“At this stage she’ll be unavailable for this weekend.”
Mikayla Morrison, who has been ruled out for the entire 2023 NAB AFLW season due to an ACL injury is seeing promising results from rehabilitation, expecting to run for the first time since surgery.
“Mikayla’s been working really hard over the last three or four months,” Fletcher said.
“I’m excited to announce she will head back on the track this week to start her first run since surgery.”
