Fremantle forward Tom Emmett said the midfield and forward connection is growing as the Club’s key forwards kicked a combined seven goals in the 52-point win over West Coast in a twilight match simulation game played over six segments at Lathlain Oval on Saturday.

Several players impressed across the board as Fremantle led at every break, highlighted by a 32-point third segment where Jye Amiss kicked three goals. 

“I thought they all played well (Amiss, Josh Treacy, Luke Jackson). All presenting, all bringing it to ground," Emmett said.

"Their contest is what we love and as a connection piece those three are really starting to work well together.

“They’re young and are just physically imposing themselves against the opposition.

“I thought the connection was really good. People talk about the mid and forward connection, and Jye being able to come up and have a few put down his throat, 'JT' clunnking them, and 'Jacko' is 'Jacko'. I thought the connection took a real step forward tonight.”

Fremantle’s Cooper Simpson kicked his first goal against an opposition Club late in the fourth segment, which saw teammates come from around the ground to celebrate with the explosive young talent.

 “Simpson was really good. He came on in the second half and looked at home, so it’s going to be a big year for him,” Emmett said.

“It’s exciting watching him play and get the confidence to take a few blokes on. I was really impressed with him tonight.

“It’s only match sim but I can’t wait for him to do it in the actual season (kick his first AFL goal), and we will get around him again."

Fremantle will play Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval on Friday 1 March in their official AAMI Community Series match.

“I’m looking forward to taking it a step up a notch next week, obviously Port are very strong so I’m keen for some more competition and I’m looking forward to taking them on,” Emmett said.
