Senior Coach Justin Longmuir said he is proud of the squad's depth leading into a selection squeeze ahead of the Club's round eight matchup against the Tigers on Sunday.

“We’re building some competition for spots which is critical if you want to be a good team,” Longmuir said at his Thursday morning press conference.

“The structure of our team and making sure we play the same system, and the players are playing the same role down at Peel as well has been really important for that.

“(Pat) Vossy came in and played the same role (on debut). There is some familiarity there.

“We’re not asking them (the players coming into the AFL side) to do anything different so that helps.

Fremantle will announce their extended squad for Sunday's clash at 4.20pm WST today, with several big selection calls to be made before the final team of 23 is announced on Friday at 3pm WST.

Longmuir made note of the team’s impressive return to the winners list, proclaiming the team “finished off our work better” during the 24-point win over the Bulldogs in round seven.

“I think some people get caught up in getting ball movement and scoring mixed up,” Longmuir said.

“We were able to finish off our work a bit better on the weekend and connect inside 50.

“We took 15 marks inside 50 and kicked over 90 points.

“Some of our handball chains led to us scoring more… we’ve been a high handball team for a long period of time and for some reason that gets left out of the analysis of our game.

“We probably executed a little bit better on the weekend, and a little bit of speed in our forward line made it look a little bit more dangerous as well.
