Fremantle have signed Western Australian product, utility Indiana West for the 2025 NAB AFLW Season as the replacement player for defender Holly Egan after she sustained an ACL injury in the pre-season hit out against the Eagles.

Hailing from WA’s South West, 19-year-old West started playing football at a local level in Bunbury in 2022, where she was picked up by South West Development after showing promising talent.

Now with three seasons under her belt at Swan Districts in the WAFLW, West has transitioned into an athletic midfielder who uses her speed, acceleration and tackling prowess to be a threat to her opposition.

The young talent has been a train-on for Fremantle this pre-season and has impressed during training and intraclub matches.

West was also a standout performer in the 2024 West Australian pre-season testing, recording impressive results for sprint and vertical jump tests, coming as no surprise with her state pole vaulting background.

AFLW List Manager Darryn Fry said the entire Club is behind Egan for her rehab journey, but is pleased to welcome West to Fremantle.

“Firstly, our thoughts are with Holly following her ACL injury; she is a much-loved member in our program, and we will be by her side every step of the way through her surgery and rehab journey,” Fry said.

“While this is incredibly unfortunate for Holly, it does present an opportunity for another emerging talent, and we are delighted to welcome Indiana (Indi) West to the Freo family.

“Indi has been a train-on with our AFLW program this preseason and has caught our eye with her power, speed and competitiveness.

“We look forward to Indi starting her AFLW journey with us this week.”

Fremantle will play Port Adelaide in Round 1 of the 2025 NAB AFLW Season, on Sunday 17 August, 2.10pm WST at Alberton Oval.
