The Fremantle Football Club is set to deliver one of its most vibrant and culturally powerful events for its upcoming AFL Women’s season, with emerging WA music sensation South Summit headlining a day of footy, music and family fun at the Club’s AFLW Indigenous Round clash on Sunday 31 August at Fremantle Oval.
Thanks to the support of Indigenous Program Partner Woodside, the Round 3 clash against reigning AFLW premiers North Melbourne will feature a live half-time and post-game performance from South Summit, ensuring fans receive a show beyond the final siren.
Widely regarded as one of the most exciting up-and-coming bands in Australia’s alternative music scene, South Summit have gained national recognition with their genre-blending sound, and powerful live performances.
Hailing from Boorloo (Perth), the band’s five members draw from diverse Indigenous and multicultural backgrounds, creating music that’s as heartfelt as it is energetic.
Their presence at this year’s Indigenous Round game adds a special cultural resonance to what promises to be a marquee fixture for the Club.
Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick said the Club is proud to deliver a memorable matchday experience that brings together footy, music and culture.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have South Summit performing at Fremantle Oval for our Indigenous Round game this year,” Garlick said.
“They’re an incredibly talented band whose music speak to the spirit of this round, celebrating Indigenous culture and community in a meaningful and authentic way.
“Thanks to Woodside, we’re able to provide not just a great game of footy, but a full day of entertainment and family fun.
“It’s going to be a special one.”
Alongside the headline performance, Fremantle are excited to present a Freo Family Fun Day experience at the ground, where under 18s can access a free ticket and adults are just $15.
A glimpse of what other activations fans can expect includes the Moorditj Markets, returning in celebration of Indigenous Round, Basket Weaving and Bracelet Making Workshops, also all thanks to Woodside, as well as the usual Glitter Bar, Airbrush Tattoo and Free Popcorn, thanks to proud partner Bankwest.
The fixture will mark one of Fremantle’s biggest home games of the season, with new and returning AFLW players in action, live music, and cultural celebration all on show, as the Club push to return to finals for a second consecutive year under senior coach Lisa Webb.
Bouncedown for the clash is 1.05pm WST and all tickets can be secured via Ticketmaster – see you at Fremantle Oval this W season, where the best things in life are Freo.
