A Fremantle trio in Gabby Newton, Emma O’Driscoll and Mim Strom have been recognised for their standout seasons, all named in the 2025 AFLW All Australian Squad.

For Newton, the honour marks her first-ever All Australian squad selection, capping off a stellar season in purple.

The hard-working midfielder has had a career best season and has been a dominant force around the contest, averaging 11.8 contested possessions per game, 3.1 clearances and 7.3 tackles across her 12 games.

The 24-year-old had the ninth highest disposal count in the league, with 293 for the season and averaged 24.4 disposals per game.

Newton’s ability to impact in the front half has been a key feature of her season, also averaging 1.9 score involvements and 2.3 inside 50s per game, showcasing her versatility and work rate through the midfield.

Newton had a stand-out performance in Round 9 against Melbourne, where she amassed a career-high 31 disposals for the match, and 10 tackles.

Two-time All Australian defender Emma O’Driscoll continues to cement her reputation as one of the competition’s most reliable intercept players, earning selection in the extended squad for a third consecutive season.

O’Driscoll finished second in the league for intercept possessions with 101 across her 11 games, averaging 9.2 intercepts and 15.3 disposals per game, anchoring Fremantle’s backline with composure and aerial strength.

The ever-reliable defender stood tall in Fremantle’s Round 12 clash with Adelaide with 17 disposals and nine intercept possessions.

Ruck star Mim Strom also earns back-to-back All Australian squad recognition following another outstanding campaign.

A 2024 All Australian, Strom’s consistency and physical presence around stoppages has been pivotal for the side, averaging 19.3 disposals, 12.8 contested possessions, and 19.8 hit outs per game.

Her impact extends beyond the ruck, as she is the third highest in the league for clearances with a total of 65 across 12 games, averaging 5.4 per game and 2.8 score involvements, further reinforcing her status as one of the premier rucks in the competition.

The 6ft ruck had an equal career-best 11 clearances in Fremantle’s Round 4 clash with Sydney, along with 26 disposals and seven tackles.

The AFLW All Australian Team of 21 players, including a captain and vice-captain, will be announced at the W Awards on Monday 24 November.

The All Australian panel consists of Andrew Dillon (Chair), Laura Kane, Greg Swann, Gemma Bastiani, Jason Bennett, Katie Loynes, Kate McCarthy, Erin Phillips, Eliza Reilly, Megan Waters and Michael Whiting.
