The AFL today announced changes to the purchase schedule for 2013 Toyota AFL Finals Series tickets as well as an incentive offer for fans across Week 2 of the Finals.

The on-sale time for fans wishing to purchase General Public tickets throughout the opening three weeks of the 2013 Toyota AFL Finals Series  has been brought forward to give fans the opportunity to secure tickets earlier than previous years.

General Public tickets will now be available to purchase from 2pm Monday - starting next Monday, September 2 - which is significantly earlier than the on-sale schedule of previous years that saw general public tickets released at midday each Tuesday.

Competing Club Members wishing to purchase Priority Access tickets throughout the Finals Series have exclusive access from 9am-1pm each Monday, which marks a shorter window than the 9am-9pm timeframe of previous years.

In addition, competing Club Members who purchase tickets to Week 1 of the Finals Series are set to benefit from a discounted offer on Week 2 tickets if their Club is still competing.

Any competing Club Member with a Week 1 ticket will receive a 20% discount to purchase a ticket in Week 2 if their Club is competing. To have access to the 20% discount on a Week 2 ticket, each member must supply their 12 digit membership barcode number at the time of the Week 1 ticket purchase. The offer is only available within the member pre-sale time on Monday from 9am-1pm,for terms and conditions visit www.afl.com.au

The AFL also announced today that it would maintain the flexibility to implement variable pricing, if appropriate, across the 2013 Toyota AFL Finals Series.

The AFL will consider variable pricing strategies for particular matches, which may include altering the seating maps and price categories for games with a smaller anticipated crowd (in time for the members on-sale period at 9am Monday) and varying the price for games that have experienced higher than expected demand for member sales (updated prices would come into effect at 2pm Monday for general public sales).

AFL General Manager – Commercial Operations, Darren Birch, said the majority of fans who attend Finals matches on a General Public ticket would benefit from the earlier on-sale schedule.

“The Finals Series is the pinnacle of the AFL season where the best teams with the best players compete for greatness,” Mr Birch said.

“By bringing the on-sale time forward for General Public Finals tickets we’ve been very deliberate in expanding the opportunity for many of our fans to secure tickets earlier than ever before.

“Competing Club Members will still have a significant window available to exclusively purchase Priority Access tickets before non-members. We have reduced the on-sale period for competing Club Members based on research that indicates an average of 70% of member purchases occur within the first hour of tickets going on sale.

“We’re pleased to offer fans with a Week 1 ticket the chance to take up a 20% discount to watch their team play in Week 2. As a way of saying thank you for being involved in the most important part of the AFL Season we want to reward those fans who attend the opening week of the Finals Series.”
