Fremantle ruckman Jon Griffin is looking to carry his strong late-season form into 2016 and has dismissed concerns over his troublesome knee.

“I’ve been really lucky I haven’t had any post-season surgery,” he said.

“This is the fittest I’ve been for the last two-to-three years.

“I had a strong finish to this year and I’m hoping to carry that momentum into 2016.”

Griffin had a successful return to the senior side in round 16 against Carlton and would go on to finish the season with seven home and away games and a finals appearance under his belt.

“It was great to get back into the team and contribute to the finals series,” he said.

“I’m just out on the track for the last couple of weeks and looking to have a strong year again this year.”

Jon Griffin: Best Clubman 2015

“All I can control is working hard on the track and playing the best I can.”

Rotating forward with Aaron Sandilands, Griffin averaged a goal a game in 2015 but his sights are still set on carrying out his role for the team.

“I really enjoy going up forward and kicking some goals like every player does but I like helping out Aaron in the ruck as well,” he said.

“I just play to the position that Ross gives me and do my best for the team.

“We’re looking to get fit and get that base ready to launch for the season.”

Griffin’s ruck development received a huge boost during the off-season with the addition of former Hawthorn premiership player David Hale to the coaching team.

“The inclusion of Hale has been awesome and [we’re] picking up some stuff that he learnt over his career in marking contests,” he said.

“He’s been really great and I’m looking forward to working with him in the future.”
